"Tutors are Terrific!" On April 19, 2008 JERS had an ice cream social to celebrate our volunteer Saturday tutors. Students from Buffalo State College, Canisius College, Houghton College, and University at Buffalo, as well as volunteers from the community, assist with literacy with refugee families both in their homes and during a Saturday afternoon program at the Niagara /Porter Avenue Library. The celebratory event include music by the Chapel Champions of Percussion, face paintin, a puppet show provide by Polla Milligan of the Foodbank Puppet Theater, and a distribution of books provided through Literacy Volunteers.
